How to Clean Glass and Vinyl Windows

Want your windows to look spotless? There’s a method to clean them properly.

There are some DOs and some even bigger DON'Ts to cleaning your windows. Follow these top tips from our experts to prevent damage and keep them looking brand new without leaving scratches or marks!

Cleaning glass

First, remove any debris so it is not rubbed into the glass during cleaning. You can use soap and water, or glass cleaner such as Windex. Soak any droppings or bug splats first to let them soften, and avoid using a sharp edge or chisel to remove them as you could mark the window pane.

It’s best to wipe the entire surface until it is dry. This helps prevent residue and spots which will be seen in the sun.

Cleaning vinyl

Again you can use regular soap and water. Avoid using abrasive cleaners such as Comet or Vim. Feel free to buff into any scuffs as soap and water alone will not damage the vinyl.

Top Tip: Do both inside and outside to leave your windows looking professionally cleaned!
