How to Remove Screens in Casement Windows

Geek Level 1

Removing the screens of casement windows is a quick and easy process.

Here we’ll look at what you need to do in order to remove the screen of a casement window for cleaning, replacement, or other reasons.

Removing the screen

Find the small pull tabs on one side of the screen. These pull tabs release the springs that hold the window in place. Pull both of these tabs back at the same time to remove the window screen on that side, then pull it to the side to remove it fully from the window frame.

Top Tip: If you’re removing the screen for cleaning, using a low-pressure hose is typically a good way to do so.

Remember screens can be delicate, so keep your grip on the frame and try not to force it when removing.

Reinstalling the screen

Reinstallation can be done by going through the steps in reverse. To install, insert the side without the tabs into the window frame, then pull the tabs out and the window screen will pop right back into place.
