This is 100% understandable and not just applicable to homeowners but to our employees as well.  What is very important to understand is that the BC Health Office and WorksafeBC have provided guidelines for working in private residences safely, we can be very safe because we have full control of our surroundings.  Unlike certain situations like a grocery store where you cannot control the behaviour of another customer, we can be in full control of how we act and what we ask our customers to do.

What should Homeowners be asking the contractors on how they can be safe with homeowners and the workers?

It is important to know how much control the company you hired has over the installation crew.  In many situations, a company might use subcontractor installers that are paid per job.  One way to ensure that sufficient time is spent being safe is to use installers that are paid hourly as opposed to per window or per job.  COVID-19 has created many additional safety protocols that take more time to get the job done and it is important that the installer be allotted this time and be compensated for it. 

How have your safety policy changes because of COVID-19
