Langford Family Wins Home Renovation Contest!

A house is made of bricks and beams. A home is made of hopes and dreams.

We are happy to announce that the winners of the 2018 Centra Cares Home Renovation Contest are Melissa & Josh Rankin, from Victoria, BC.

Earlier this year, Josh Rankin, 35, was diagnosed with stage 4 stomach cancer and has been undergoing treatments to lengthen the time he has with his family.

“The first thing through my mind is how am I going to tell my kids? How am I going to tell Melissa’s kids? How am I going to tell everybody?” the 35-year-old said. “To get that news and be told that I can’t do anything [that] I used to do, put a big hit into everybody’s life.”

The Rankin family illustrated moments of laughter, sadness, triumph, dedication, and resiliency in their story.

Centra installers from Victoria, Nanaimo and the Lower Mainland will be at the Rankin residence on Saturday, September 8^th 2018, installing their new windows and spending time with the family and neighbouring community. We will be hosting a barbeque and speaking to all those in attendance about the Rankin Family and their amazing story. Watch the Rankin family reaction here! This year’s Centra Cares Home Renovation Contest is the most successful to date, with 301 nominations throughout British Columbia. We know that home renovations can be expensive, so the Centra Cares Foundation is providing the Rankin Family windows valued up to $15,000.

We are so grateful and blessed to have the opportunity to support and change the lives of a deserving family. We’re so thrilled about the installation this Saturday and the positive effects the new windows will have for their family.
