Multi-chamber Frames are Crucial for Thermal Comfort

Comfort

Multi-Chambered frames are a premium feature in all of our windows.

Over the last decade, we have had the opportunity to upgrade this technology with new types of LoE coatings, upgraded spacer bars and even more advanced frames with added internal chambers.

The Sealed air insulates against hot and cold weather extremes providing controlled comfort all year around. The multi-chambered frame is very important to the overall thermal aspect of the window. Many manufacturers have 2-3 chambers but we have a minimum of 10 in all of our window frames.

During those winter nights, the cold draft will have a difficult time entering your home through 10 chambers versus the lighter window frames. The windows with 2-3 chambers will start to dip over time and as a result, will no longer perform and provide the comfort homeowners require. With 10 frames, we’re not only improving the efficiency of the frame but we’re also improving the structural integrity so it will perform at a high level for decades.

Centra has modelled over 300 glass and frame scenarios.

We've done this in an effort to find the best performance coupled with a cost-effective solution. What we found was that a high-performance window can outperform an entry-level triple-glazed window. Sure you can spend all the extra money on triple-glazed windows but you won’t be recouping the benefits.

The major differences in performance between double and triple glazing are the selection of glass types, gas filling, cavity width, overall unit thickness, and of course, cost. Single glazing has a U-value of 5 and a new modern double glazing has a U-value of 1.6, which is largely due to the advanced methods of double glazing compared to older models. The cost of triple glazing is much higher than double, whereas the improved U-value is not very large. With all this in mind, Centra has been ahead of the game.

Listen to the Experts.

Our Window Geeks are eager to share the latest innovations in glazing and window technology so we can help you choose the right window package for your home. We want to ensure that your windows do not become a thermal liability.
