The Role
As a Material Handler at our Calgary production plant, you’ll ensure the smooth movement, organization, and distribution of materials to keep our high-performance window and door production running efficiently. Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, you’ll manage inventory accuracy, proactively stage materials, and collaborate with production teams to minimize downtime and drive operational success.

Core Accountabilities

• Material Handling & Distribution:
• Receive, inspect, and safely move materials using forklifts or pallet jacks.
• Organize materials for production, including kitting and staging, to support workflow.
• Monitor and replenish supply levels at workstations, ensuring production schedules are met.
• Inventory Management:
• Conduct regular inventory counts, reconcile discrepancies, and assist with audits.
• Track material usage and waste, supporting cost control and forecasting efforts.
• Implement best practices for labeling, rotation, and storage to optimize space and accuracy.
• Operational Support:
• Collaborate with production planners to align material availability with production goals.
• Troubleshoot material-related issues to minimize production disruptions.
• Support continuous improvement by identifying and implementing process efficiencies.
• Health, Safety & Compliance:
• Follow safety protocols and operate equipment responsibly.
• Perform equipment inspections and report any safety concerns or maintenance needs.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of prior experience in material handling, warehousing, or a similar role.
• Proficiency operating forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment (certification preferred).
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to ensure accuracy in material movement and inventory records.
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues under pressure, ensuring minimal disruptions.
• Basic computer skills for inventory tracking and reporting.
• A proactive mindset with a focus on efficiency, safety, and teamwork.
