Safety Officer

Are you a safety professional with construction experience who thrives in the field? At Centra Windows, we’re looking for a Safety Officer to educate, empower, and inspire our teams across diverse projects – from single-family renovations to large multifamily restorations. This isn’t a desk job. You’ll be on-site, building relationships, identifying risks, and delivering practical solutions that make safety a shared priority. Ready to lead with impact? Let’s talk.

The Opportunity

As our Safety Officer, you will be a key leader in fostering a proactive, safe work environment across our construction sites and manufacturing operations in Langley, BC, and beyond. This role isn’t about enforcing rules with an iron fist – it’s about educating, building trust, and empowering teams to prioritize safety because they know you care about their well-being.

Reporting to our Health & Safety Manager, you will spend most of your time in the field, actively engaging with teams on single-family home renovations to large-scale building envelope restorations. You’ll travel throughout the Lower Mainland, Vancouver Island, and the Interior as needed. Your mission? To develop a culture where safety isn’t just a requirement – it’s a shared value.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop, monitor, and enhance safety programs, policies, and procedures that align with provincial regulations and Centra’s standards.
  • Train and educate teams across construction and manufacturing on safe work practices, ensuring engagement and understanding.
  • Conduct regular site inspections, identify hazards, and implement solutions to mitigate risks.
  • Build relationships with workers and management to drive safety standards through education, partnership, and trust.
  • Respond to incidents, emergencies, or conflicts with a calm, decisive, and solutions-driven mindset.
  • Provide detailed safety reports, follow-up plans, and recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Stay current with WorkSafeBC regulations and other relevant safety legislation, advising leadership on changes and compliance needs.
  • Lead incident investigations and corrective action processes, ensuring follow-through and accountability while preserving relationships.

What We’re Looking For

  • Construction Experience: 5+ years in residential or multifamily construction – safety experience within these settings is a must.
  • Safety Expertise: 2+ years in a Safety Officer role and certified with Occupational First Aid Level 2 and valid safety designations, such as:
    • CSO (Construction Safety Officer) certification
    • NCSO (National Construction Safety Officer) designation an asset
  • A Class 5 driver’s license with flexibility for regional travel.
  • A decisive, solutions-oriented self-starter with the ability to work independently.
  • A leader who is relational, collaborative, and confident in their ability to influence others.
  • Experience in fostering a positive safety culture, not a punitive one.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills – you know how to engage workers, get buy-in, and deliver training effectively.

Why This Role Matters

At Centra Windows, safety is not just compliance – it’s care. Our Safety Officer is a trusted leader, educator, and advocate for our teams in the field and plant. Your expertise will bring safety to new heights while creating a work environment where employees feel valued, supported, and confident in their health and safety.
