We’re seeking a strategic financial leader to join our Manufacturing Business Unit as a Senior Manufacturing Operations Controller. In this high-impact role, you will be responsible for driving financial leadership and shaping critical business decisions through insightful, data-driven analysis. Leading comprehensive manufacturing cost accounting, you will ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial operations. As a senior leader, you will collaborate closely with executive leadership to optimize cost structures, develop financial strategies, and support long-term profitability and operational efficiency. Additionally, you will play a key role in holding cross-functional teams accountable for financial outcomes, ensuring alignment with organizational goals to drive continuous improvement, growth, and sustained success.

Core Accountabilities:

  • Financial Leadership & Compliance: Spearhead the financial operations of the manufacturing business unit, ensuring the highest standards of accuracy and integrity in financial reporting while driving compliance with GAAP and IFRS. Lead the development and implementation of advanced financial policies to optimize processes and uphold regulatory compliance.
  • Cost Accounting & Strategic Analysis: Lead comprehensive cost accounting initiatives, including variance analysis and strategic inventory valuation, to ensure precision in product costing. Deliver data-driven insights to executive leadership, proactively identifying opportunities to reduce costs and drive profitability across the organization.
  • Financial Reporting & Long-Term Strategic Planning: Serve as a strategic partner to executive leadership, presenting detailed financial reports and key performance metrics. Lead the development of long-range financial strategies, capital allocation plans, and dynamic forecasting to align financial outcomes with business growth objectives.
  • Inventory Management & Operational Optimization: Strategically manage inventory across the manufacturing unit, implementing systems to optimize stock levels and reduce excess while ensuring seamless production flow and financial alignment. Ensure accuracy in financial reporting through precise reconciliation of inventory data.
  • Audit, Risk Management & Internal Controls: Lead rigorous internal and external audits, mitigating financial and operational risks through proactive identification and resolution. Establish robust internal control systems, ensuring comprehensive protection of financial data and adherence to corporate governance standards.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration & Accountability: Act as a key financial advisor across the organization, driving alignment between financial goals and operational strategies. Hold senior leaders accountable for financial performance, fostering a culture of excellence and ownership in decision-making across the business.

Our Ideal Candidate:

We are looking for a tough, decisive leader who thrives in high-pressure environments and has a no-nonsense approach to driving operational and financial success. You are not afraid to make the hard calls and hold others accountable to the highest standards, always pushing for excellence in every aspect of the business.

You believe that financial leadership is about more than just crunching numbers—it's about being on the floor, seeing operations firsthand, and using data to drive real, tangible improvements. You are a strategic thinker with the grit and determination to take control of complex financial systems and align them with operational goals.

With a strong entrepreneurial mindset, you embrace structure and controls without allowing bureaucracy to slow you down. You know how to turn financial insights into action, pushing for results that protect the customer experience and elevate the business. You’re a key partner to senior leadership and understand your role in shaping Centra’s brand reputation for quality and reliability.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior manufacturing controller role, with deep expertise in cost accounting and financial leadership within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven success in leading external audits and ensuring compliance with financial regulations, demonstrating strong oversight and accountability.
  • Demonstrated ability to make decisive, data-driven business decisions that directly impact operational improvements and financial performance.
  • Must be located in Calgary and willing to travel as needed, with a presence on the production floor to verify results and implement system improvements.
  • Skilled in partnering with senior leadership, able to hold your ground and provide strategic financial insights that influence the direction of the manufacturing strategy.
  • Strong track record of balancing operational and financial goals, with a focus on optimizing performance and ensuring alignment with overall business objectives.
